The city of Merced is a vast growing community with a population of 73,610 people. It is the home to newly opened UC Merced and MercedCommunity College. These educational institutes offer many opportunities to new and continuing students with the convenience of being local.

There are many other great aspects to the city of Merced, such as historical structures, parks and the Apple Gate Zoo. This can be taken advantage of throughout the year. Merced also has the Merced fairgrounds which plays host too many different events throughout the year, including the Merced Fair in the summer.

If you would like to get away there are many recreational activities to do within short driving distance. YosemiteNational Park is less than a two hour drive to the east and to the west is the Monterey bay.
