The city of Los Banos has a population of 35,211 which has increased nearly 27% since the year 2000.  Amid all the hustle and bustle of most growing towns you’ll find Los Banos has a great deal of down-to-earth, rural charm. Los Banos is about two hours or less from the cities of San Francisco, Stockton, Oakland, San Jose, and Fresno which makes it easy for residents to travel to a big city to catch a flight or to every once in a while enjoy the big city life. 

For those of you interested in nature, mountains, fishing, hunting, snow and water skiing then Los Banos is close to them all.  There is the extensive national and state game refuges.  The wetlands that support waterfowl and other wildlife habitat which is great for hunters and nature enthusiasts.  The San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area where you can camp, hike, fish, hunt, boating of all kinds, bicycle, ride horses, and ride motorcyles or ATV's.  Yosemite National Forest and the Sierra National Forest is just a little drive away also where a person can leave the valley for the mountains to camp, fish, ski, snowboard, or just enjoy life and nature at it's purest form.

There are many new commercial and residential projects in the works and Los Banos highly encourages it's residents to have a voice in the planning process.  There is many stores in Los Banos such as Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Super Kmart, and soon the Super target to some of the nicest family ran stores on Main Street that are small boutiques, jewelery stores, and shoe stores.
